Far from civilization – Our Anchor in the Ria de Muros

Since Saturday afternoon we are Muros anchor. The crossing was smooth. Your selected us weather window was not optimal but the best, what we could get. That meant in detail: Although we had no wind from the front, but we had but otherwise no wind. 1-3 Node circulating winds felt at more like my hairdryer in the bathroom and not like sailing. SUMMER unfortunately was also unimpressed and was not really going. Good, daß wir noch in La Coruna 150 Liters of diesel had refueled. So while almost the entire trip we had run on the machine. After all, we had the rain, had firmly hung over the harbor of Friday, left after about two hours behind us. Unfortunately, I discovered during my night watch, that we had stowaways from La Coruna taken on board. A few of the bloodthirsty pests torpedoed my well deserved sleep and would not be really relaxing my vigil. But now they are history. Early morning I seemed to have killed the last of the gang.
The “Ria de Muros” presented today for the first time in its entire beauty. For once the sun was shining. The partially dense fog, also the last part surprised us crossing within minutes, had cleared. The small city is idyllically located below the pine-covered mountains. Of these, however, was unfortunately almost nothing to see in the last days.
Muros well seem to be a popular place in the Spanish holidaymakers. On our first shore excursion with the dinghy on Saturday the beaches were quite animated despite the weather and we found after a long search a place in one of the many tapas bars. Slightly surprised we found, that the prices in comparison with La Coruna were still significantly higher. The small town itself had for us rather a morbid charm. The buildings are partially fallen right off the waterfront and it is missing from the city core to significantly flair. But nevertheless we had a really fun evening. Because right on the harbor, a stage was built and from 10 Clock rang rock and heavy metal over the whole bay. This also we did not want to miss and injected with the dinghy ashore again.
The small, very sheltered bay with its wide sandy beach but still invited to stay, then on Sunday night should go through a storm with lots of wind and rain again. So the night was in spite of the strong wind but still relaxing and during the day it became increasingly dry. I used the time for more travel planning, while Dietmar with the dinghy went ashore and explored further the city.
In the early evening the SY Ganesha walked beside us anchor. She had made a stopover at Cape Finisterre. Together we decided on a leisurely dinner, to spend two more days in Muros. Again stood some work on our list and there was also a gaping void in the onboard refrigerator. After pulling another little bad weather on Tuesday it should go south. San Vincent del Mar was the next stop on the agenda. Due to the unstable weather conditions up here in northern Spain we decided, to shorten our time spent in this part of the country considerably and quickly to sail to Portugal in the hope, there regain the coveted summer.
The SY MENTOR wants to make today on the way in our direction. Perhaps there is already in San Vincent a reunion.
Moored for us no everyday situation. So far, we have almost always located on the web in any Marina. Each time you could leave the boat easily. Showers and other sanitary facilities were (in different qualities) land available. Water and electricity were to be had on the pier. Usually you had Internet access via WiFi. Now everything is different. First, directly after the anchor was dropped, The dinghy was made clear. Any way ashore is a trip for two, because my skills in dinghy ride is not as advanced are. Power we have sufficient enough on board and it can, if required, produce even. Exactly the same is true for fresh water. Every other day has ran our watermaker. Only only the WiFi connection is really from us. Today the suffering was so great, that we have finally dealt with the problem of non-functioning WLAN antenna. Unfortunately, with the result, that our problem somewhere in the antenna on the top of the mast 20 Meters is. As Dietmar today must anyway in the mast, However, we will continue to pursue the same theme. Let's see, whether we can report success today evening.
So you feel in the age of the general and permanent accessibility but amazing at the same time of the “World” cut off amazingly. For both of us a new experience.
