A beach in a class

The small island of Culebra should have one of the most beautiful beaches in the world according to Internet: die Baia Flamenco. Because we wanted to have definitely seen, before we would sail on the main island of Puerto Rico. So we got together with the SY VIA in our dinghy quite early on the way to the sandy beach in our anchorage. There we carried the dinghy ashore and joined together firmly to a tree. Not that we had to swim back to our trip to the boats.

The Bahia Flamenco was only a short walk away and easy to reach. So many roads did not exist on the small island yes. Before we reached the actual beach, we passed a large parking, Changing facilities and miscellaneous items, offering the food and drinks. Das war schon eindeutig amerikanisch hier 🙂

The beach itself met all our expectations. Wide, with white, fine sand and turquoise water, he invited us to a long bath. But first we took a walk and shot extensively Photos. It was still pretty empty here. For part ran into big waves into the bay, which offered an impressive image. At the end of the beach was an old and now brightly painted tanks, the left over from the time, when the island was used by the US as a military training area.

Then finally Baden hip. After the short walk over a small hill, only one was grateful at the temperatures for each refreshment. Refreshed and cooled, we walked a bit along the beach. There were no 5-star hotel facilities, but only a very lovingly decorated guesthouse. Then you could spend well determined a few days and enjoy life.

Before returning to the boat we have strengthened ourselves at the food stalls. Here various snacks were offered, many of them typical Puerto Rican and at fair prices. The practicality of the seller made but rather something to be desired. But in the heat all goes precisely to cozy and all waited patiently, to again another delicacy was cooked. So around it's also much better, as if the food would burn for hours in the sun to herself.

Slowly, the state had already filled with day trippers from Puerto Rico and we were looking forward, that we were before them as :-). So we moved back towards Ankerbucht thence. Our dinghy waited under the tree for us and soon we were back on our boats, who have been waiting in "our" anchorage on us. Since you can not get enough cooling at temperatures, We snorkeled in the afternoon again extensively on the beautiful underwater world with its many coral and Riffbewohnen.

We spent the evening together on the SY VIA with a glass of wine and enjoyed the peace and the beauty of nature. The sea was smooth as glass and a light breeze brought us cool and comfortable temperatures. Tomorrow morning we would leave for Puerto Rico and much return this little paradise too early back.
