Finally back under water

Friday, the 13. we had set for our first joint dive on La Palma. Good, that we are not superstitious. 🙂 Schon gegen zehn Uhr sollten wir in der Tauchschule auf der anderen Seite der Insel sein und machten uns pünktlich auf den Weg. Once there, we were made very welcome from the team. Dietmar knew the whole team already from his last stay in La Palma. My first dive after the three-month break, we wanted to make the so-called "house reef". Werner, our instructor, took really long time for me. The dive itself was relaxed and interesting. Only the way to the water (150 Meters with the complete equipment) and most of the way back called me with my bad condition. It is time, to finally work on my fitness! Where will it lead else? 🙂

So we agreed with the diving school, that we wanted the next day become active again. For me also the AOWD course was on the program, which would allow me, up to 30 To dip meter depth. Dietmar had already taken the course in Madeira and of course I did not want inferior. To deal with Dietmar enough during my course time, Veronika was looking for him also a challenging course out. My husband can be in the coming days to "Rescue Diver" form. That makes it fun and useful it is finally. Always good, when someone is nearby, the white just in case, what to do. So we moved each with a thick textbook from there, and the next time definitely not be bored.

In the evening we wanted to try our luck with the Canary Carnival again. It was not supposed to be every night Kinderkarneval. 🙂

Especially for Dietmar the pretty dancer gutters were a feast for the eyes, But I also liked the ladies all ages with their elaborate and colorful costumes. Nevertheless, we were glad, as the show was over around half past eight, for it was very cold.

To warm up, we decided, back down directly on the SUMMER, but still to go eat a pizza in town. The day before yesterday we 100% conditioned original Italian pizzeria was noticed, and we were eager to test out now. The small restaurant was up on a table fully occupied. Apparently we were lucky. But then we found a book on the table and a shopping bag, which stood on the floor next to the table. Someone was probably still have been faster? Or the items have been simply forgotten? We took first place and waited, what would happen. A short time later also appeared a young woman, which included things. But she had no objection to our society and we learned from your many interesting things about La Palma. For almost five years, she has been living on the island, works on the one in the restaurant business and as a teacher of German and Spanish. Therefore, they could tell us a lot about life in and with the palmeros. We spent a fun and informative evening in a magnificent stone-baked pizza. On the way home we found, that we had not even imagined. Well, maybe we run ourselves so again on the way. The island is not that big and you meet is known to play twice in the life.

On Saturday we met the other diver at the diving school in Los Cancajos and went together to the Dive Spot, lying directly below the airport. In the small fishing village held a narrow boat ramp hidden among the maze of houses in the water. Next to an old boat shed, we prepared our equipment before and came easily with the aid of a safety line to the sea. For today we have had no planned dive course so were also no exercises, which had to be overcome. We just explored only the unknown reef and observed many fish and other sea animals. For the next two days the weather conditions for more dives should be too bad. But the time we want to use, to take care of the theoretical course contents.

It is celebrated

The next morning we had to organize a car first, which proved to be quite difficult. But around noon there was a nearly new Skoda Yeti on the Marina parking, to take us in the next week comfortably from A to B. So we moved to Los Llanos los same time, the second largest city of La Palma, which no 15 Located minutes from the marina.

We strolled through the neat old town with its beautiful pedestrian area around the "Inglesia de Los Remedios" and the "Plaza de Espana" middle of the old city center. Eventually, we could not resist and turned in "Frida", a cafe with homemade cakes and homemade ice cream. On the way back to the car we passed a billboard, the informed about the upcoming carnival events in Los Llanos. Right here with bids. Since our Spanish but unfortunately not enough, to decipher all the details, We decided tonight just personally stop by and see, what had actually standing right on the program.

Also at the Marina Tanzacorte prepared you to a special festivity ago. Early in the morning we had started, build a marquee. About five clock, as we were about to leave for Los Lllanos straight again, we heard traditional Canarian music.

At the opening of the second investor for large ships in Tanzacorte was great and plays a folk dance group shows your skills.

Many officials were invited. 59 Million euro funding had flowed into the overall development of the port. Two gigantic breakwater protecting investors for two cruise ships or ferries up to a length of 150 Meters in front of the sometimes very rough seas.

If ever such a crusader will invest here, but is uncertain. The Latest, joined the Tanzacorte with Santa Cruz, was adjusted in any case again. It all seemed to trouble anyone but further. Die Veranstaltung endete sogar mit einem kleinen Feuerwerk 🙂

In Los Llanos angekommen, we found, that today most of the children's carnival had been on the program. Da waren wir doch wohl schon rausgewachsen 🙂

After a short round about the fuss we went back to BUZZER. It is probably really time, to improve our knowledge of Spanish. Who knows, in which strange situations we are otherwise still maneuver us.

One night during the spin cycle

Something unmotivated we started on Tuesday at ten clock on the path towards Valle, on the west side of La Gomera. In the port of San Miguel there was still no wind, but after an hour of driving under engine we could set sail and had passable Southern Wind. For me, it was a quiet day of sailing without a lot of rocking. A beautiful home!

Four times crossed our path and pilot whales once we saw a large school dolphins. Just before sunset we reached our destination. Unfortunately we have to, that the bay to anchor in south wind and strong swell offers no special protection against Valle.

Except for a boat all other sailors had taken shelter directly behind the breakwater. Unfortunately, I could not convince Dietmar and on the wall to create. So our anchor a short time later fell on the sandy bottom of the bay and was certainly buried shortly thereafter. Only from rest in the ship could be no question. Our SUMMER lay across the swell and swung wildly from right to left. In each cubbyhole doses were, Pots and books rearranged and made a surprising amount of noise. My "sea-weaned" stomach was all too much. As a precaution I took a trip times tablet and lay down on the couch in the living room. Dietmar was initially not sure, whether a dinner that evening would be at all a good idea. But after a while he made but at the stove and warmed the Chilli con carne on the weekend.

The night was so restless as feared, only towards morning waves calmed in the bay. I felt the morning but, as if I had spent the night in a washing machine during the spin cycle. Nevertheless, we went around eight Clock anchor on towards Tazacorte on La Palma. Soon, the sun was shining and it was warm on the boat. By the early afternoon we sailed with light winds quite quickly towards our goal, then the wind died and we motorten towards Tazacorte.

Shortly before the southern tip of La Palma again crossed our path and dolphins accompanied us a piece.

KHX_4961

Only ten miles lay ahead of us and we were hoping against five clock to reach the port. But the wind made us a spanner in the works. Within a short time it was blowing against us, almost thirty knots and SUMMER stamped violently in the short, steep wave.

Soon the entire deck was flooded with salt water and Dietmar got behind the wheel and one or the other of splash from.

KHX_5008

That was probably nothing again with a comfortable sailing. With difficulty we fight our way down the coast and reached only after six clock the protective harbor.

The sail Weather in the Canaries has not done to us. The winds here in the winter months can be fickle and changeable. Between slowdown and high winds often only an hour. Now we were happy first, to have arrived and were looking forward to a quiet night in the harbor. That evening the kitchen remained on the SUMMER cold and we ate quite outstanding, fresh fish right on the harbor in a small restaurant. Before we could admire the capture of a fisherman, with the aid of a forklift four wonderful tuna (about 80 -100 Pounds per fish) auslud at the harbor. The wind and the wave was not a walk of determined out there at sea.
